The lake and surrounding park area primarily focus on the need for recreation in the region. The lake offers opportunities for swimming, as well as windsurfing, sailing, canoeing, waterskiing and wakeboarding. Hiking, bike and in-line skating paths will be built around the lake and along the waterfront, with rest areas and playgrounds.
The lake and adjoining waterways will be a showcase feature, connecting visitors to different aspects of the water system in the park and the polder as a whole. The lakeside heart of the park will offer a variety of facilities, such as a visitor center, dining establishments with waterfront cafes, wellness and spa facilities, spaces for exhibitions and performances, a boulevard and walking promenade, a recreational dock and an observation tower. The heart of the park will be accessible via a new parkway; there will also be an R-net express bus connection with a stop.
